Ayyyeee… What’s Goodie Everyone. So I got some very hot and serious tea. Right now as I am reporting this, there is an attempted coup d’etat right now in Washington D.C. Trump Supporters ascended on Capitol Hill to protest the certification of the election results by congress. Here are more details.
Trump’s supporters turned up in Washington for demonstrations, and these protest turned violent. At the U.S. Capitol, lots of people pushed past police who were trying to block them from entering the building as lawmakers inside debated counting electoral college votes confirming Biden’s victory. A mob was able to breach security and successfully enter the building, where one person was shot and later died.
This is started with Trump cause lost the popular and electoral college vote and he continues to dispute the election results, without evidence, and has encouraged his supporters to show up at the Capitol. He took the stage about noon to roaring crowds, falsely claiming he had won the election.
The D.C. National Guard was activated. The military involvement came after D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) requested that guards members already on duty be sent to the Capitol, according to a defense official and a District official. Bowser also imposed a citywide curfew as a chaotic scene worsened at the U.S. Capitol building. From 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m.
Update: Trump told a huge crowd outside the White House that they should never accept defeat. Hundreds of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in what was an attempted coup that they hoped would overturn the election he lost. In the chaos, law enforcement officials said, one woman was shot and killed by police.
The violent scene was incited by the president’s incendiary language was most definitely like no other in modern American history, bringing to a sudden halt the congressional certification of Joe Biden’s electoral victory.
Thousands broke through Capitol doors and windows, forcing their way past police officers unprepared for the onslaught. Lawmakers were evacuated shortly before an armed standoff at the House chamber’s entrance. The woman who was shot was rushed to an ambulance, and later died. Canisters of tear gas were fired across the Rotunda’s white marble floor, and on the steps outside the building, rioters flew Confederate flags.
