Ayyyeee… What’s Goodie Everyone. So I got some very sad news to report.
Natalie Desselle Reid, who starred alongside Halle Berry in the 1997 film âB.A.P.S.â and on the sitcom âEve,â has died on Monday. She was 53.
Reidâs death on Monday was confirmed by JeâCaryous Johnson, the CEO of JeâCaryous Entertainment, which was planning a stage adaption of âB.A.P.S.â A rep for the actorâs family said she died after a battle with colon cancer.
In the film âB.A.P.S,â Reid and Berry played the roles of two waitresses at a Georgia food diner who decide to fly to Los Angeles for a music video audition. The duo ended up living a luxury lifestyle as âBlack American Princessesâ while caring for an elderly Beverly Hills millionaire.
Reid also starred as Eveâs friend Janie Egins over a three season span on the UPN sitcom âEve.â The actor also appeared in Tyler Perryâs âMadeaâs Big Happy Family,â F. Gary Grayâs âSet It Offâ and Def Jamâs âHow to Be a Player.â
Johnson said Reid was looking forward to bringing her role as Mickey in the film back to life. He said everyone fell in love with Reidâs âundeniably witty, always giving and caring and hilariously show-stopping personalityâ during rehearsals earlier this year.
âThe world has truly lost one of its most angelic souls here on Earth,â Johnson said in a statement, noting the dedicated approach Reid took to her acting. âThere will never be another woman like her who so effortlessly lit up the screen, as well as any room she walked into.â
Berry said on Twitter that she was âin total shock. ⌠completely heartbroken.â
Eve paid tribute to Reid on her social media saying âthank you for your light and spirit.â
